ASSESSMENT

WHAT DOES IB ASSESSMENT REQUIRE?

The root of the word 'assessment' is from the Latin assidere, which means ' to sit beside'.

Both formative and summative assessments are necessary.
Formative assessment not only shapes the planning but also paves the path
towards a successful summative assessment.
Providing different moments of purposeful and supportive  assessment in view of the final Papers.
It is always useful for interpreting student progress and contributes to
developing metacognitive awareness.
Different articles and other tools may help us focus on both type of
assessments.

It is useful to consider John Hattie's thoughts on 'The power of assessment' (2007):
- learning intentions during the assessment process.
-variability of feedback : where, when, how, provide feedback at the right level.
-build a feedback culture.
-measurement from success in criteria.
