CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING
Conceptual understanding is the foundation for developing receptive and productive skills.
Students are expected to develop their conceptual understanding of how language works in order to construct, evaluate and analyze arguments on a variety of topics.
How can we help develop conceptual understanding?
-Keeping the concepts central to instruction .
-Having continuous reflections on concepts .
-Working with concepts in every single text.
-Encouraging students to take conceptual understanding beyond the English B class.
-Helping students to integrate CUs in other areas of knowledge, mainly TOK and their native language.
The students' final grades in Paper 1 in criteria B and C will be impacted if they do not demonstrate the CUs.
