ENGLISH B COURSE DESIGN AND PLANNING

What does it mean to acquire and learn English today?

What does it mean to learn English within a programme such as the Diploma IB?

Acquiring and learning English is more than acquiring and learning a foreign language.

English is the first language in many countries in the world ,which means that our students will be involved in a multicultural world all the time. That's why we also develop cultural content.

This takes us easily to the international mindedness and Learner Profile which are central in all IB programmes.

The material you will find combines course content derived from the themes , with engaging websites, videos , plans , checklists, articles , and different activities for your everyday classroom.

And combine everything with the English usage today

How do we plan our syllabus?

Unit planners are a great tool so as to include all the necessary elements that
our IB subject needs so that is is part of a programme ,considering the Core
(TOK ,EE and CAS) and the skills derived from the Approaches to Teaching
and Learning.
Using the Unit planners, teachers include a variety of activities, focusing on
the different skills, with Transfer goals in mind.
The planners also include a Reflection for teachers to write after the unit.
The continuum: Inquiry , Action and Reflection , leads the planning process.
But you can also use other planners as long as you consider the principles of course design, ATL, and assessment objectives.
