SHARING the PLANET

The theme Sharing the Planet explores the ways in which groups of people organize themselves, or are organized, through common systems or interests.

Students will be offered opportunities to communicate about matters of personal, local, national and global interest in the context of the study of Sharing the Planet, through a range of subtopics:

• Climate
• Physical geography
• The environment
• Global issues

Students will be exposed to a variety of text types in relation to the theme of Sharing the Planet and its subtopics, that will allow them to compare the target language and culture(s) to other languages and cultures, as well as to other disciplinary areas in the DP.

They will be challenged to answer a range of questions on the theme of Sharing the Planet, like the following:

• What can I do to help the environment?
• How do my surroundings affect the way I live?
• What can I do to make the world a better place?
