EXPERIENCES

Experiences are events, situations and problems that happen to us and have an effect on what we feel or think. The theme of Experiences explores and tells the stories of those events, experiences and journeys that shape our lives.

Students will be offered opportunities to communicate about matters of personal, local, national and global interest in the context of study of Experiences, through treatment of a range of topics:

• Daily routine
• Leisure
• Holidays
• Festivals and celebrations

Students will be exposed to a variety of text types in relation to the theme of Experiences and its topics, that will allow them to compare the target language and culture(s) to other languages and cultures, as well as to other disciplinary areas in the DP.

They will be challanged to answer a range of questions in the theme area of Experiences, like the following:

• How does travel broaden our horizons?
• How would my life be different if I lived in another culture?
• How would people´s lives be different without travelling?
• What are the challenges of being a teenager in diferent cultures?
• How are customs and traditions similar or different across cultures?
