IDENTITIES
The theme of Identities explores the nature of the self and how we express who we are. Students will explore a range of factors that play a distinctive role in shaping people's identities and existence.
Students will be offered opportunities to communicate about matters of personal, local or national and global interest in the context of study of Identities. They will be looking at a range of different topics:
- personal attributes
- relationships
- eating and drinking habits
- physical wellbeing
Students will be exposed to a variety of text types in relation to the theme of Identities and its topics, allowing them to compare the target language and culture(s) to other languages and cultures, as well as to other disciplinary areas in the DP.
They will be challenged to answer a range of questions in the theme area of Identities, like the following:
- How do I present myself to others?
- What importance does my physical appearance play in the way I perceive myself?
- How do I express my identity?
- How do I project myself in society?
- How do my eating and drinking habits define my personality?
- How do I achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle?
